Skill Level One
New to pickleball? Welcome to the court! At this stage, players are just getting started and learning the absolute basics of the game. With little or no experience, they lean on simple rules and instructions while getting comfortable with the court, scoring, and equipment. Mistakes are part of the journey, but every rally is a chance to improve, gain confidence, and discover the fun of pickleball. This Skill Level is all about enjoying the game, making progress and taking those first exciting steps into the sport.

Skill Level One Details
What To Expect at Level One
- Learning the rules and scoring basics.
- Understanding the layout of the court.
- Getting familiar with the paddle and ball.
- Trying basic shots (forehand, backhand, serve).
- Lots of trial and error and that’s perfectly okay!
Tips to Get Started
- Play with friends who can explain as you go.
- Don’t worry about winning, focus on getting the ball over the net.
- Learn to call the score out loud (it helps confidence).
- Keep rallies short and fun.

As you gain confidence and start hitting the ball more consistently, you’ll move into Skill Level Two where you’ll focus on positioning, longer rallies, and playing with more strategy.
